AVICENA d.o.o., as publisher was founded in Sarajevo in the year 1992. During war time (1992-1995) in Bosnia & Herzegovina, AVICENA organized and sponsored 10 scientific conferences in Sarajevo and published 47 books & monographies, also proceedings of mentioned conferences. Some of them were exposed at Frankfurt Book fairs in 1994.

AVICENA publish continualy three biomadical journals: Medical Archives, from the year 1993, Acta Informatica Medica, from the year 1993 and Materia Socio Medica, from the year 2000. All journals are indexed in EBSCO databases and Medline databases (Medical Archives).

Till now AVICENA published more than 100 books and more than 100 issues of biomedical journals.
